Magic Mushrooms: The Power of Reishi

Magic Mushrooms, the power of Reishi.

Reishi has impressive immune boosting potential and is gaining more attention as an antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal food. Oh the irony.

While Reishi has been used for its healing properties in ancient Chinese medicine it is trending on the modern health scene, think Reishi lattes after sound bathing.

Many of the claims around Reishi are evidence based too!

A 2009 study in Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry conducted in Taiwan showed that reishi contained unique polysaccharides that promote longevity.

They do this by boosting immune system function and playing a role in preventing abnormal blood vessel formations that could lead to serious health complications.

In 2010, a different study by Pharmacological Reports found that the triterpinoid ganoderic acid found in Reishi inhibited the development of certain tumors.

More recently, a 2013 study in Food and Chemical Toxicology used reishi mushrooms to reverse chemical-driven liver damage in animal studies.

Research is also promising that suggests that Reishi may help patients with neurodegenerative disorders.

Well that all sounds pretty magical to me. I'm personally a fan of Reishi coffee, are there any of you out there?
